Chinese Medicine
restores the body's physiological function. In other words, it allows
and supports the body to re-establish its own internal balance. How
it does this is an area of intense research. The ancient Chinese gave a
name to the underlying energy that functions to restore and maintain
health, they called it Qi. It is this energy, this Qi, that is the main
pathway for helping the body heal itself.
Qi is similar to the Nervous System, and the Hormonal System. It both influences and helps communicate all functions of the body. When Qi flows and communicates effectively the result is a balanced and healthy being. When the flow of Qi is interrupted disease arises. The natural flow of Qi can be interrupted in four major ways: 1) Blocked Flow. This can result from physical injury, stress, or contraction.

 Not Enough Qi
2) Not Enough Qi. From lifestyle, chronic stress, chronic illness.
 Too Much Qi
3) Too Much Qi. Mostly from injury.
 Reversed Flow of Qi
4) Reversed Flow of Qi.
Most conditions arise from a combination of two or more of these. For example, stress, which initially blocks the smooth flow of Qi, when chronic can lower the total production of Qi. That is why in many chronic stress conditions the person may experience a feeling of being tired and wired. The wired part is the blockage of Qi, the tired part is the lack of Qi. |
